Apache Tasseled Bag with Boulder Opal
Introducing our new uniquely Australian composition!
This luxurious version of our signature Apache Tasseled Bag is made of velvet soft suede in gorgeous sandy stone hues with extra long, beautifully flowing tassels. The bag is embellished with our iconic hand tooled leather panels which have been carefully hand dyed to achieve that delightfully rustic finish. Inlaid into the panels are two solid natural Queensland Boulder Opals.
These precious stones come from Opal fields in South West Queensland, Australia. Both have been carefully hand carved by Byron Bay based Opal artist Isaac Andreou, whose family has been working with Opals for generations. The large stone in the bag's front panel has been cut and polished to a free form oval cabochon cut. The smaller Opal in the strap's detail has been cut to an oval shape. Both stones have been handpicked for that perfect match and display sky blue and violet shades through natural earth coloured mother stone.
The rugged feel of each of these gemstones, combined with the shimmering iridescent colours showing through them add an all new quality to our most beloved design.
The piece has been infused with extra love and super special finishing touches. It comes with two feather attachments. The larger feather clip features some of our most beautiful, soft feathers & purple Amethyst beads that work perfectly with the earthy feel of this gorgeous bag. The silver coloured fittings include a large three piece western buckle with our favourite floral pattern. The panels on the front and back of the bag feature our beautiful Eagle Feather carving complete with elegant stamping, providing a beautiful frame for the Opal embellishment.
The Indigenous Australian origins of Opal are part of the Rainbow Serpent Story. This particular Dreamtime story tells of the creator, the Rainbow Serpent who lived underground. She carried all the animal tribes in her belly. When it was time, she pushed up through the earth, throwing the land out and creating the mountains and hills. She made fire and all the colours of the earth as she wound her way through the lands. She carried up the frogs who had stored all the water in their bellies and woke them up by tickling them. The water poured out and made the oceans and the rivers from the patterns she had made. Some of this water remained within the cracks of the earth, deep below where she had slithered through, leaving behind a trail of her mystical rainbow hues and powers of creation, the Opal.

Queensland Boulder Opals are natural wonders of Australia. This unique precious stone is extracted from Opal fields in western Queensland. It is a mixture of ironstone and Opal that are either layered or in a matrix. Opals display all the colours of the rainbow in an iridescent moving pattern of green, blue, yellow, red, purple, aqua, and pink.
What we love about Boulder Opals is the combination of their rugged, earthy beauty with the stunning colours shimmering beneath the surface, making it a uniquely magnificent precious stone. As such, Boulder Opal is known to bring out inner beauty.
Thanks to the full array of colours it contains within itself, it is believed to have balancing abilities, promoting emotional security and mental clarity. Opals are also known to stimulate originality and creativity and encourage freedom and independence.
